Calving Cup Competition 2023 Terms and Conditions

CALVING CUP 2023

  1. Information on how to enter and on the prizes form part of these terms and conditions. Participation in this competition is deemed acceptance of these and any other applicable terms and conditions (together the “Terms and Conditions”). Any entry not complying with the Terms and Conditions is invalid.

  2. Entry to the competition is open to veterinarians who are registered to practice in NZ and aged 18 years or over. Employees of Creative Refinery NZ Ltd, the Sponsor or any the third party suppliers associated with this competition and their immediate families are not eligible to win any prizes associated with the competition.

  3. The competition commences at 12.01am on June 15th 2023 and closes at 5.00pm on October 31st 2023 (Competition Period). All calving’s eligible for points must be performed and entered into the competition tab on the Calving Cup application dashboard during the Competition Period.

  4. Participating veterinarians must be registered on the Calving Cup application throughout the Competition Period and must have obtained their employers consent to be registered on the application and participate in this competition. Only veterinarians correctly registered and entering their own details and calving’s on the Calving Cup app within the Competition Period are eligible for prizes.

  5. The winner of each division of the competition is the entrant with the highest number of points within that division scored on the Calving Cup app determined by the scoring system below and verified by invoices to clients of the relevant veterinary business.

  6. Points and Criteria:

    1. Points system is as follows:

      a.     1 x CALVING = 1 x POINT

      b.     1 x REDUCE UTERINE PROLAPSE = 1 x POINT

For a calving to be awarded a competition point all of the following criteria need to be met:

      i. At least one calf is removed from the cow’s birth canal/uterus by, or under the direct guidance and in the physical presence of, the claiming veterinarian; and

ii. The person responsible for the cow (owner/farm manager) must have requested veterinary obstetric assistance for that specific cow; and

iii. The calving is charged for, and appears on an invoice to the client.

      Extra notes:

      i. All qualifying calvings count for 1 competition point each, regardless of presentation or method of delivery (including assisted, caesarean section or embryotomy).

ii. Pharmacological induction of cows to calve is not considered a calving.

iii. Administration of metabolic solutions to a cow who subsequently calves without further assistance is not considered a calving.

iv. Non-recovery (i.e. cow is euthanised and an attempt is made to recover the calf) caesarean sections are not considered calvings.

      v. Multiple births (twins/triplets) still only count for 1 competition point in total. (i.e. 1 competition point per cow calved NOT 1 competition point per calf)

vi. Only one competition point in total is awarded per invoiced calving. If more than one vet is in attendance at a procedure, the vets who are present must decide and agree who will claim the competition point.

  7. For a calving to count, all relevant information on the Calving Cup application entry tab must be completed.

  8. There are four prize divisions in the competition open to vets. Entrants may win a prize in more than one division.

    1. Divisions and prizes are as follows:

      a. Open Division: All participating veterinarians registered in NZ are eligible to enter this division.

      i. Champion Rookie Division: a $300 e-voucher.

      ii. Champion Rookie Division Runner-up (2nd place): a $100 e-voucher.

      c. Popularity Division: This division can be entered by participating veterinarians uploading relevant photos or videos.  Winners will be based on most likes by peers. (Everyone registered can vote – only one vote per image, multiple images can be voted on (liked) per competition.)  Photos must be appropriate, as determined by the Promoter in their sole discretion and those the Promoter deems are not appropriate can be removed from the app. Participants must ensure they have consent of any person appearing in a photo or video to load same onto the Calving Cup app. The winner gets a $100 e-voucher and runners-up gets a $50 e-voucher.

      i. Best photo

      ii. Cutest Calf

      iii. Tips & Tricks

      d. Spot Prize Division: Spot prizes will be drawn monthly at random from participant entries loaded for that month. An individual veterinarian can only win one prize per month but is eligible to win in any of the months the Calving Cup runs for which they are registered. Spot prizes will vary and could consist of e-vouchers and promotional items and or prizes.

  9. In the event of a “dead heat” in any of the divisions (e.g. when two or more entrants are equal highest point scorers in the division), a countback system will be used to identify final placings and final winners. Firstly the scores of the relevant entrants will be recalculated after the points earned from assisted calving are removed, and the entrant with the greater score on this measure will be deemed to win the prize. If the remaining leading entrants are still equal on this measure, the leading entrant with the highest number of caesarean will be deemed the winner. If after these countbacks, there are still two or more entrants on equal highest score, then these entrants will be considered joint winners, the nominated prize divided equally between them.

  10. To ensure fair play, and the confidence of entrants in the integrity of the competition, the winner’s scores shall be verified by the Promoter by a review of clinic invoices following completion of the Competition Period. Only procedures that appear on legitimate invoices are eligible for competition points. By allowing the veterinarians in their employ to enter, the employing veterinary clinic agrees to allow the winners scores to be verified by the Promoter via the viewing of these invoices on site within the clinic. Invoices will not be copied or removed from the clinic by the Promoter. In order to protect veterinarian/client confidentiality, the veterinary business is asked to obscure (redact) client details on copies of invoices and scoring sheets before they are presented to the Promoter for verification. However, the dates, procedure performed, and charges for the procedure must be legible. The details on such invoices shall be treated as confidential and shall not be used by the Promoter for any purpose other than verifying the entrant’s competition points and will not be accessed by or shown to the Sponsor.

  11. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any competition entries that are not entered into the Calving Cup entry tab of the Calving Cup application for any reason by the end of the Competition Period or are otherwise invalid or corrupted.

  12. Prizes to be won take the form of e-vouchers, excluding Hunting & Fishing and Rebel Sport (this will be physical vouchers), as specified in point 8 above. 14. The winners will be notified by phone and or text as well as via the Calving Cup application notifications within 10 working days of the competition closing by contact details recorded by them in the Calving Cup application. The winner must then arrange with the Promoter to allow the Promoter to verify the competition points claimed as per the above within (14) days of being notified. No prize will be awarded until verification is complete and provided such verification verifies the competition points claimed. If not verified within the required time frame, a new winner will be identified and notified and verified in accordance with this paragraph.

  15. By entering into this competition participating vets agree that

    I. Their details may be published on the public Promoter’s Calving Cup application forum and subsequent Calving Cup and Sponsor marketing material; and

  16. In the event that the winner cannot be contacted within 10 working days following the conclusion of the Competition Period or if the Promoter determines that a winner is not eligible to participate in a prize division or is not eligible to win, the runner-up will be awarded the prize (again subject to verification). The Promoter is not responsible if the winner cannot be contacted within 10 working days following the Competition Period due to incorrect or out of date contact details being recorded in the online registration form or after three attempts.

  17. The Promoter collects personal information in order to conduct the competition and may, for this purpose disclose such information to third parties including, but not limited to, its agents, and prize suppliers and, as required, regulatory authorities. 19. If for any reason this promotion is not capable of running as planned, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion.

  20. To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither the Promoter and Sponsor nor their agents shall be liable for any loss, damage or injury whatsoever (including both direct, indirect and consequential loss or damages) by the winner and/or any other person as a result of or in connection with the competition or the use of any of the prizes.
